The aims of Speaking Scottish are to:
- Create an online resource for anyone wanting to learn more about how people speak in Scotland, with a particular focus on EAL (English as an Additional Language) learners
- Support those who have moved to Scotland as EAL speakers
- Create a platform through which people across Scotland can share their language and the culture it is connected to
- Help people understand the regional, generational and other differences in language used across Scotland, supporting them to better connect with their local communities
